300 people came out for our 9th Annual Highlands Neighborhood Picnic on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. Some of the highlights included playing 2nd Annual Rock – Paper – Scissors Tournament of Champions, Piñata, Pokemon Go, Police Motorcycles, and Fire Engine. Of course, the food was delicious because of the wonderful potluck dishes provided by the neighbors and the food truck (See Photos Below).
Chief Tuck Younis was grateful to the community for supporting the Los Altos Police Department. Fire Chief Ken Kehmna, representing the Santa Clara County Fire Department, was delighted to provide a fire engine and fire fighters at our event. We appreciate all the hard work our police and fire departments do to keep our community safe.
MPTO volunteers are more than just fund-raisers. They are one of the main pillars that support our uniquely vibrant community. Because of MPTO we actually got a use permit which allows us to use the bathrooms, electricity for the food truck, and custodial service. Our faithful custodian, Erik, cleaned the tables for us in advance and took away our garbage afterwards. In past years, a few of us took the garbage home with us because we didn’t have access to the dumpster. Thank you, Erik!
